November Goals

Oh hey, it's November! How did that happen?! This month will hopefully be pretty exciting, but it's also going to be full on! I'm turning 30 (agh), starting a new job on top of running my business, selling the house, and starting to get ready to move to my new home, I have to be out of here by December 14! I better make a few goals so I have a clear idea of what needs to be done!

  • Celebrate my birthday - I turn 30 on the 28th, and I need to figure out if I want to have a party at home or go out for dinner and drinks!
  • Start packing - aggggghhhh. I hate moving, but it needs to be done and the sooner I start packing all of my junk up, the better!
  • Keep seeing my therapist - this isn't something I've spoken about before but I see a psychologist and because so much has been happening lately I've been seeing him more. I need to make a good effort to talk to him
  • Start reading again - I cannot read novels right now, I can't focus, so my friend suggested I read comics! They're colourful and quick!
  • Spend time by myself, not just at home - go out and get a coffee, go to the library, have lunch out. Basically, date myself in a way!
The Latest Kate (her work is amazing btw!)
Do you have any goals for November?

Blog + Creative Goals 2016

I have so many things that I want to do this year! I am really excited for all of the possibilities! Here are some of my ideas

 Blog Goals
  1. Comment on more blogs - I want to be more active in the blogging community and I'd love more blogger friends!
  2. Refresh my blog - I am thinking of changing the name of this blog to be more in line with what I want to focus on and I'd love to refresh the look of it
  3. Blog more about my day to day life
  4. Monthly photo an hour posts (I love these!)
  5. Monthly recap/favourites (I failed at this in 2015!)

Creative Goals
  1. Create everyday - simple, I want to paint, craft, bake, sew, etc every single day this year (and share here of course)
  2. Try new things - I want to try out more paper crafts, embroidery, needle felting, and anything I can think of!
  3. Step up my snail mail - I want to make more of my own stationery and make my letters look better
  4. Potentially start a YouTube channel - this I am unsure and nervous about doing it, so I may need to work up to it!
Do you have any similar goals?! I'd love to hear them :-)

2015 Recap + 2016 Goals

2015 Goal Recap

  1. Sleep better –  I didn’t do too well with this goal, I think it’s something I need to work on more
  2. Eat better and cook more – I think I did cook more but the eating better thing didn’t happen unfortunately!
  3. Focus on my blog – I think I did well with this! I was posting consistently so I am happy
  4. Start exercising more – haha nope
  5. Finish my course – not only did I do this but I finished another course and a bridging course! Hells yeah!
  6. Find volunteer work at a vet clinic and get into my vet nurse course – done and done! This is the thing that has made me most proud of myself this year!
  7. Go on regular coffee dates with myself – I did this at the beginning of the year but the last time I did it was probably in March so that’s a fail
  8. Be more organised – done! I was definitely organised this year!
  9. Goodreads challenge - 24 books – Fail. I wasn’t feeling it this year!
  10. Daily instax again – done! YAY!
Overall, I didn't do too badly but there is definite room for improvement! My 2016 goals are pretty similar...

 2016 Goals
  1.  Work hard at TAFE – I really want to do well in my vet nursing course but I have a real problem starting assignments and studying, and this course sounds very difficult and time consuming, so this year I really want to focus on my studies!
  2. Be healthier – this is an all-rounder including sorting out a sleep schedule, exercising more frequently, and improving my diet
  3. Continue being organised – I did well with this in 2015 and I want to improve even more!
  4. Be tidier – I am the worst at keeping our home clean and tidy, and an untidy home really stresses me out so keeping it tidier is going to help me in every part of my life!
  5. Improve our home – this isn’t about keeping it clean, it’s about doing things that need to be done, such as gardening and painting things or fixing things!
  6. Daily instax – for the third year in a row! I love doing this
  7. Goodreads – since I failed so hard last year, I’ve set myself a smaller goal of 12 books
I decided to make less goals than I did last year to make it easier on myself. I also have blog goals and I've chosen a word to guide my 2016 so I will be posting about those soon. Do you have any goals for this year?

Exciting Things Happening

Hey! I am SO EXCITED. One of my goals this year was to find a vet clinic to do my work placement at so I can do Certificate IV Vet Nursing at TAFE...I had an interview a couple of weeks ago and just found out that I start next Monday!

I will be working 2 days a week 7am - 3pm. I am a night owl, so I have to start training myself this week to get up early and go to bed early. To get to work on time I will have to be up by 5.30am. Oh boy.

I have my enrollment tomorrow for my course, I start a bridging course on August 28 which will go for the last part of the semester and I will start cert IV next year. Since I will only be at TAFE 1 day a week I decided to do Cert 3 Animal Studies during the next semester as well, so I will have another qualification for my CV!

So soon, I will go from 1 day a week at TAFE and 1 morning of work, to 2 days at TAFE and 2 days working. My workload will more than double. I am super excited, and also nervous.

This may mean changes to my blog, but what it means for me is I have to be motivated and organised so I can continue posting. I actually want to post MORE on here, so I need to really work on my own work ethic haha.

So that's my exciting news! I can't wait to start working and studying more!
Take care

Fresh Start

I haven't done a goal recap for a little while, and my goals have just flown out the window and disappeared. I can't quite seem to get them back so I decided just to have a fresh start for the last 7 months of this year!

So, here are my refreshed goals for the rest of 2015

  • Go to bed earlier
  • Spend less time online
  • Walk Amos at night
  • Tidy house daily
  • Use planner daily
  • Happiness planner
  • Read daily
  • Drink more tea
  • Eat fruit
  • Eat healthy meals at the right times
  • Spend more time outside with Amos
  • Put more effort into blog
  • Concentrate on TAFE work
  • Craft  as much as possible
  • Actually go on coffee date s with myself once a fortnight/month
This may seem like a lot, but really all of these things are possible - I just have to have the motivation which is my main problem. I ended up purchasing the Happiness Planner and I am hoping to use it to help myself do all of these things. These things won't make my life perfect or make any problems go away, but they may help me be in a better state of mind to help me deal with the problems as they come and go.

I think it's important to reassess your goals and your situation as time goes by, I am not the same person I was in January of this year.
Take care

March Goal Recap

I'm a bit late with this post this month, but here it is!
  1. sleep better - Um. Really failing with this. My sleep is all over the place of late :-(
  2. eat better and cook more - Cooking more, but my food choices are still...bad
  3. focus on my blog - OK, sorry blog I haven't focused on you but I am feeling inspired now!
  4. Start exercising more - Mega super fail
  5. finish my course - Only 9 weeks left!!!
  6. find volunteer work at a vet clinic and get into my vet nurse course - I am organising my resume and will start taking them to vet clinics soon!
  7. go on regular coffee dates with myself - Boo! I didn't do this at all
  8. be more organised -Still my most succesful goal! I am so organised right now, I love it!
  9. goodreads challenge - 24 books - I am still in a reading slump and I am 5 books behind schedule!
  10.  Daily instax again! - still going well!
Oh well, hopefully April will be better (it's not shaping up to be haha). I'm not putting too much pressure on myself, that has the opposite affect with me!
Yes I spent 15 minutes making this

How are you going with your 2015 goals?

January Goal Recap

OK, seriously. Where did January go? *looks under couch* - nope, it's not there! I feel like this month flew by faster than usual and my goals flew out the window!
  1. sleep better -  I think I did reasonably well with this, although I am really bad at getting up on time and I need to work on that a LOT!
  2. eat better and cook more - eating better I failed at, but I did cook more and I have now removed nearly all of the junk food from this house and I will be buying dark chocolate for when I need something sweet - and I am cutting out soft drink and eating more fruit
  3. focus on my blog - I think I did well with this! 17 blog posts this month and ideas brewing!
  4. Start exercising more - wow, super fail! I have the best intentions to do better in February
  5. finish my course - I re-enrolled for the next semester and start on Monday! 6 months to go!
  6. find volunteer work at a vet clinic and get into my vet nurse course - this cannot be even thought about until I finish my current course
  7. go on regular coffee dates with myself - I only went on one, which is better then none
  8. be more organised - definitely accomplished this in January, I remembered birthdays, the house is clean, and I've cleaned out a few cupboards in the house and donated things that we no longer need - it feels so good
  9. goodreads challenge - 24 books - haha I am already one book behind schedule, need to finish Yes Please ASAP!
  10.  Daily instax again! - so far so good!

Alright I am a little disappointed with how I went in January, but I am feeling really optimistic about February. I start back at TAFE and my volunteering, so that will bring a bit more structure back.

And because I forgot to take photos for this blog post, here's a photo of Violet's gigantic butt.
She needs a brush but attacks me when I try!

2015 Goals

  1. sleep better
  2. eat better and cook more
  3. focus on my blog (more on this in another post)
  4. Start exercising more
  5. finish my course
  6. find volunteer work at a vet clinic and get into my vet nurse course (this will be hard!)
  7. go on regular coffee dates with myself
  8. be more organised
  9. goodreads challenge - 24 books
  10.  Daily instax again!
So most of these are cliche, but there is something nice about thinking about the new year. It's like a fresh start, new possibilities and it feels like a chance to make your life better, to make it more of what you want it to be. I have many things that I want to do this year, but these are the main things!

There's a (very) good chance that by February these goals will be already failed, but I have the best intentions and really want to be better this year!

Details
1. sleep better - obvious! Sleeping properly makes life so much better!
2. eat better and cook more - I am sooo bad at eating properly and this needs to change
3. blog - I have a bunch of ideas and a few projects I want to work on in 2015 (more on this in another post) and I really want my blog to be better
4. exercise - another obvious one!
5. finish my course - I'm halfway there!!
6. get into vet nursing - this might be difficult as I need to find a vet clinic to work in before I get into the course, but it's something I really want and am going to work hard to accomplish it
7. coffee - I want to start taking myself out once a week/fortnight for coffee, somewhere away from technology where I can read or write letters and just relax!
8. organised - this is important as I've found that I am so disorganised lately. I fixed this a bit before Christmas and life was much easier when I wasn't saying "oh crap I forgot to do this thing!".
9. reading - oh man, I only read 12 books in 2014! That's terrible for me! I've been reading more lately and want to AT LEAST double that number in 2015!
10. instax - I loved doing this last year, so I am of course doing it again

So that's everything - what are your 2015 goals?!
Megan xo

November Goals

I've set myself a few goals for November and decided to share!
*finish organising office - self explanatory, my office is so unorganised and I am halfway done!
* make Christmas Cards - I want these to be ready to post at the beginning of December!
*turn 27 - unavoidable! My birthday is at the end of the month and I am kinda excited!
*start Christmas DIYs  - I have so many ideas
*clear reply pile - eep - so many pen pals waiting for replies
*finish books - currently reading 4...oops

Have you set any goals for November?

Changing

I used to fear change, I was so comfortable with my job that I didn't care that I earned shitty money and there wasn't any room for a promotion within the company. After 7 years I quit that job and started at University doing social science. I was so desperate to get out of that office that I decided it was the right course for me. After a while I realised that it just wasn't what I wanted to do, and eventually decided to start Animal Studies and I have never been happier! I've already completed one term and start the second one in a few weeks and I have decided once I finish this I want to do vet nursing.

So apart from career plans, I've also made other small changes in my life. I've changed my diet, my exercise habits, and I am planning on working harder on this blog and in every other aspect of my life. I wanted to share my new plans here as a way to track how I am going (and for accountability haha).
  • taking better care of myself
  • better blog content
  • more time doing the things I like, instead of being on tumblr, and trying new things
  • being more organised and crafting a routine for myself
  • stop caring what others think of me, share things I am nervous about, be more confident
  • taking more pride in my home
I am hoping these things will help me be a better version of me. Have you made any changes lately? Maybe we can support each other?
Have a great day,
Megan xo

Four Goals for February

A Beautiful Mess (one of my favourite blogs!) recently made a post about productivity where they mentioned that telling people your goals may help you to achieve them, as they then become your "accountability partner" ha ha - I thought this was great idea and decided to share my February goals

1. Start training Amos
Amos hasn't had any proper training, his carer tried her best and did a good job, however she is more of a cat person (she has 13!) so I don't think she was too fussed with training him, plus he's only young and very excitable. I want to be able to walk him properly and I would like him to know basic commands so he listens to me!

2.  Organise my office
Something I really want to do is organise the whole house so that I can find things more easily, and that way the house is easier to keep clean too! I plan to start with my office cupboard which looks like this, plus four draws under all this that are stuffed full of random things that need a home!
3. Read these 3 books

The Ocean at the End of the Lane is Neil Gaiman's latest book (released in June last year) and I've been wanting to read it since it was released! Piercing I have had for years and I think it's time to read it. As for Vagina, it just sounds like a fascinating biography and I am interested in reading about a part of the body that more than half of the worlds population has, is responsible for bringing life into this world and yet is also a taboo subject that you can't even name on television and if you say it in certain situations you will be silenced!

4. Hang our wedding canvas and the canvas I got stretched.
Pretty easy thing, but I know people who get these things printed and take forever to actually hang them!

All in all, I think these are 4 very achievable goals. February should be a great month, we are picking up our new baby on Friday! I cannot wait to hang out with Amos and introduce him to everyone. It's also the last month of summer, which means Autumn (my favourite season!) is getting closer.

Have a great day
Megan.
