Tuesday Tune

I realised that I completely forgot to do my Friday Fancies last week! I meant to do it on Thursday because my husband, my eldest brother and I drove up to Port Macquarie on Friday to visit my Dad and step mother and to go to our baby sisters first birthday party. So, I guess I was distracted by the fact that I was excited to see the babies, they are so cute!
Anyways, here is my favourite song of the week. Sugar Rush by AKB48 - if you've seen Wreck It Ralph you might know this song!

Series I Haven't Finished

Just like my post about books I need to read, this one is about series that I have started and haven't finished yet! This is also one of my plans for 2014.
First up is The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini. I started this several years ago. I read the first and second book (which I have misplaced) and never read the third or even purchased the fourth!
I also need to finish The Percheron series by Fiona McIntosh. I've read the first two and they were really good! I read them several years ago, so I might need to do a reread  of these.
The Chaos Walking series by Patrick Ness. The first book in the series was one of the best books I read in 2013, so I am excited to read the other two!
There are a few comic series that I haven't finished, including Sweet Tooth by Jeff Lemire. This series is really interesting and I am planning to catch up with it soon!
Also on my list is Locke & Key by Joe Hill. This was so good! And I really, really want to catch up!
Lastly is Runaways by Brian K. Vaughan and others. Vaughan is responsible for my most favourite comic series of all time, Y: The Last Man. I have read a bunch of these but still have a few left til I am finished!

That's everything! I am so excited to catch up on all of these series.

Books I Have to Read in 2014

Hello! Today I am sharing a few books on my shelf that I have been putting off reading because they are large and daunting, so I am hoping to knock them out this year! So in no particular order....
1Q84 by Haruki Murakami. I've had this for a couple of years and it's 985 pages scare me! I love Murakami so I need to read this.
The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling. I've heard this book is really good, but it is massive and I worry it's going to be hard to get through.
The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. My brother got me this for my birthday a few years ago. I've read Crime and Punishment, which was good, so hopefully I can enjoy this one too. However, I struggle with classics...fingers crossed this isn't too difficult!
The Final Confession of Mabel Stark by Robert Hough. I have had this on my shelf for so long, I am embarrassed to say how long - so I HAVE to read this. It sounds really good too!
Habibi by Craig Thompson. This comic was also a gift and it is a big one with 672 pages. The cover is gorgeous, and the story sounds interesting.

I am really hoping I can get through these 5 books this year, as I've been putting off reading them and the longer I leave it the worse I feel! Have you been avoiding any books because of their size or for another reason?

2014 Organisation

One of my New Years Resolutions is to be more organised. This is spurred on by the fact that I was extremely disorganised in 2013 and it caused me a lot of stress and sleepless nights as I forgot to do things and failed to keep on top of uni work. I want that to change this year and I have developed my own personal system that is very simple and will hopefully help me a lot.
Purchased from Kikki-K

My first helper is this 365 day diary. I used one of these a couple of years ago and found that writing everything down at the end of each day actually helps me sleep better. Going through everything that I am worried or even excited about clears my head.
Purchased from the Book Depository - the cheapest I found!

Next is this violet Moleskine. I really like the Moleskine diaries for keeping all of my plans organised.
Sorry for the odd angle, it is so overcast today and I cannot find good light
Inside the Moleskine I'm using bright post-it notes for my blog posts, that way I can move them if necessary and remove them when I am done! (Also yes we are getting Foxtel installed on Saturday - I am excited for cartoons and Martha Stewart - ha ha).
Also from Kikki-K - they were having a sale!
I love these bright pens. I'm using them to uh...colour code stuff in my Moleskine...yup, I am now a colour coder. The gold polka dot pen is to use in my 365 journal - it writes so nicely.
ha ha these stickers are so crappy
I use this black book to write down lists of things I need to do and, obviously, ideas!
Adhesive dots from Kikki-K & Martha Stewart To Do notepad from Officeworks
These last two are really helpful. The adhesive dots are good for sticking tickets, photos, etc into my diary and I use the to do list every day! I write down everything that needs to be done (duh) and having a list like this really helps me to actually get everything checked off. Looking at my finished list at the end of each day is really satisfying.

So that's everything! I hope you enjoyed my first organisation post. I really love reading posts like this, so I am happy to finally try it out for myself.

Have a great day,
Megan xo

Happy New Year - 2014!

Happy New Year!
As per usual, how the hell is it a new year already? Here are some things that happened in 2013
  • my step-mother had two baby girls and I go two cutie pie baby sisters!
  • I quit my job and started uni
  • Nathan lost his job (politics!) and started a new one that meant changes, but also good things
  • we got a new cat, Violet, and she makes us laugh every day
  • there were bush fires :(
  • my brother Paul got engaged!
Overall, a good year with a few hiccups but that's to be expected!
Butt head - check out those perfect eyebrow whiskers
Here are my goals for 2014
  1. focus on Uni - I am doing 3 units instead of 4 next semester, so things should be easier!
  2. be healthier - and I don't mean "rah rah must lose weight" because that does not work, but I just mean exercise and actually eat 3 meals a day instead of forgetting to eat lunch, and to start sleeping at a regular time
  3. get a puppy! We are getting our rotting fence replaced with a nice high one, which means we can get a dog FINALLY!
  4. take an Instax photo a day to document the year, which I will hopefully turn into a blog post every two weeks
  5. do the 52 week art journal course I bought from the A Beautiful Mess ladies
  6. make an effort to be more organised
  7. spend less money
  8. read 40 books for my Goodreads 2014 challenge (I failed this year, and I also plan to read more comics so this will help haha)
  9. get out of my comfort zone and try new things
  10. keep this blog updated - this is one I really, really want to do. I love blogging and I've been worried for a while about making quality blog posts about things that might interest other people however I should just blog about what I like. So my plan for PeachSponge is to blog about books, games, stationery, home organisation, my cats, stuff we do and nerdy things - because these are my favourite things!
So, these goals aren't too crazy but my main goal is just to be happy and to do things that make me happy! Sorry for the text heavy post, but here's another photo of a cat to break it up!
Check out that belly fluff

Anyways, I hope you had a great New Years Eve and I hope you have a fantastic 2014!

Christmas Gifts 2013

Hello! I hope you had an amazing Christmas if you celebrate it, and I hope you didn't have to much family drama! I am pretty lucky, we had my Mum, my brothers (Glenn and Paul), and Paul's fiancee over for Christmas dinner. We had a really fun afternoon of eating lots (my future sister in law is vegan so we got to eat lots of salad and roast veggies - so good), hanging out, and playing with my cats! We also all spoiled each other, so here is what I got!
Glenn gave me this awesome board game!
Paul and Shana got me these figurines to add to my Walking Dead collection! I'm lovin' Michonne's eyebrows!
My Mum always gets me Disney DVDs and this year she got me The Jungle Book and my second favourite, The Little Mermaid! (My favourite is Beauty and the Beast). She also always gets me knickers, but I'm not showing you those, you perv.
These I received after Christmas. We do a Secret Santa with Nathan's siblings, and my sister in law Pauline had me and this is what I received. I love getting books I've never heard of, and I love getting books about food even more! I can't wait to try some of the recipes in this one.
The last 3 gifts are from Nathan. This cat is from one of my favourite shops ever, the New Age store in Springwood. They have EVERYTHING in that place, I love it.
Nathan also got me this owl, he knows how much I love owls! I love how surprised he looks. I've named him Nigowl (get it...Nigel...Nigowl...haaaa I make myself laugh and that's the main thing).
Finally, my favourite gift! Nathan bought me Lego Marvel Super Heroes! I am a huge fan of the Lego games and this one is pretty awesome. I might actually try something new and review it on here...maybe!

So that's everything, a pretty good haul I think! I had the best Christmas and I am so ready for 2014!
Have a good one,
Megan xo
