A Year With Amos

On February 7, 2014 Nathan and I adopted a big goober of a dog. We have now had Amos for just over a year and wanted to share a few photos of him because he's ridiculously cute.
This is from when we first got him, still my favourite photo of him ever
I took this one the other day, he's an idiot
From the second time he had a cone when he had eye surgery
Those ears kill me!
My happy boy
I love this boy so much, this face represents how happy he makes me
He's still over excitable, but he just cracks us up. He loves that blue ball and you cannot get it off him unless you trick him with food. He is food obsessed! We love him <3
Take care

Amos Update

We have now had Amos for 3 months and they have flown by! He's such a funny dog. He can be a bit excitable at times, but he loves us and is so happy to hang out with us. He loves food, and his favourite toys are the ones that you fill with treats that he has to roll around to get the food out. He chews everything, and loves digging holes but he doesn't do any major damage so it's not something that really bothers us. He likes to steal socks and enjoys barking at garbage trucks!
He also loves galloping around the backyard at 100 miles an hour!
I love his gangly legs
He always looks so sad, but he's just trying to fool you into giving him treats!
Um, excuse me, didn't anyone give you permission to be so cute with that folded over ear?!
Isn't that the cutest face you have ever seen in your whole life? I just wanna smooch him all the time!

We are so happy we adopted him. He still needs a LOT of training, but he's getting there and I think eventually he will be an amazing dog. We love him a lot!
Have a wonderful day,
Megan xo

February Spotty Box Review

Since we got Amos, I've been a tiny bit obsessed with dog websites, blogs, photos and anything that Amos might like. I discovered that there are a few dog subscription boxes in Australia and started researching them to decide which one looked like the best. I settled on Spottybox. I signed up for a 6 month subscription, which reduced the cost from $39 p/m to $29 p/m. I received the first box and thought I would review it for anyone who might be interested!
Inside the box was this pretty pink paper and Spottybox sticker.
All of the goodies.
The toy is this cute squeaky boomerang from Hey Pup!
Some beef training twists and minty dental chew bones  from Huds and Toke.
And these chewy and crunchy treats also from Huds and Toke
I showed him the boomerang and he got all excited and planted his butt on the ground knowing that when he does that I will throw the toy. He leapt away and started chewing and making it squeak <3
He was looking wary, I think he thought I was going to take it away haha!
He dropped the toy so he could eat one of the minty chews - he loved it!

All in all, I am really glad I subscribed to Spottybox! I looked up the products online and I definitely got my $29 worth, and they even donate 20% of their profits to dog shelters! The treats should hopefully last for a bit which means less trips to Pet Barn (where I am tempted to buy a million things for him and the cats), and the main thing is Amos enjoys it!

I can't wait to see what next months box contains!

Introducing Amos

When I was a kid we had a German Shepherd (crossed with who knows what!) called Cookie, we had her for a few years before Bella the mixed breed "followed" my brother Paul home from school one day. My Grandma (who lived next door) had a dog called Topsy, and we always had a least one cat and so did my grandma - my point is, I grew up with lots of pets! Cookie passed away in 1998, and Bella lasted until 2010, and this is the longest in my life I have gone without a dog. We were waiting til we got married, then we were waiting til we moved, and then our fence needed to be replaced - but now the stars aligned and we found Amos...
This is the photo of him that I first saw on the Pet Rescue website...and I was in love. His eyes, his ears and that happy grin, I knew he was the dog for us.  The only problem was is the dog rescue that had him was located in Griffith, NSW - which is 6 hours away! I spoke to his carer on the phone for a while and asked a million questions about him. He lived with her and her family, and their 13 cats! So I knew he was good with cats and kids. We decided to take him on a one week trial, but we both know there is no way in hell we could give him up. He is a big goofball
This kills me - he was rolling around after our walk
Dying from laughter at this photo
This was our first photo together. I sat in the back seat with him on our way home and he rested his head on my lap <3
My sister in law described him as "all legs and face" - which is pretty spot on!
Are you kidding me with this face?
So we've only had him since Friday, and we are hoping things go well - he seems to be settling in. I tried to introduce him to the cats however they were a bit scared. He just wanted to play with them, he's around 8months old so he is still a pup! I will keep you updated and I think I will do a post about why I choose to adopt pets too!
